HTML Basic

Add a second paragraph explaining who can join the class.

Understand the topic

A basic page uses a document declaration, a root element, metadata, and visible body content. Start with a heading that names the page, a paragraph that introduces it, and a useful link. HTML uses angle brackets for tags and quoted attribute values. Indenting child elements helps people understand the structure; indentation does not create the layout.

Worked example

<!doctype html>
<html lang="en">
<head><meta charset="utf-8"><title>Community classes</title></head>
<body>
  <h1>Community classes</h1>
  <p>Learn practical skills with your neighbours.</p>
  <a href="https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTML">Read about HTML</a>
</body>
</html>

The link has a destination in href and readable text between its tags. A visitor can follow it with a mouse or keyboard. The page remains useful without any CSS.

Practice

Common mistake

Do not paste visible text into head. Most content intended for visitors belongs in body.
