HTML Comments
Add a comment explaining who updates a contact address.
Understand the topic
Comments are notes in source code that are not rendered as ordinary page text. They can explain a non-obvious section or temporarily disable a small fragment during editing. Comments remain available in downloaded source, so they are not a place for passwords, personal information, or private plans. Keep useful comments brief and current.
Worked example
<!-- Opening times are updated each term. -->
<p>Open Monday to Friday.</p>
The browser renders the paragraph but does not display the comment. Inspecting the source still reveals both.
Practice
Add a comment explaining who updates a contact address.
Show a suggested answer
<!-- The reception team maintains this address. -->
<p>Contact: hello@example.com</p>Common mistake
Do not nest HTML comments. A comment containing another comment opener or closer can end in an unexpected place.
